Don't Make This Mistake When Selling

Don't Make This Mistake When Selling

We've been seeing a lot of movement of inventory in the region, but even with the market perking up, sellers still need to be realistic with the asking price of their home.

Remember - when you are selling, you must think of your home as a commodity.  It may be difficult but you will do well to "un-emotionalize" (is that a word?) yourself from your home.

RED ALERT: Stay Away From This Neighborhood

RED ALERT: Stay Away From This Neighborhood

Unless you like awesome neighborhoods, that is. It's called Three Tree Point in the city of Burien, and it used to be THE place for Seattleites to spend their summers.

They would commute to Seattle on the ferry during the day and party at the dance halls at night, surrounded by one of he best mountain/sound views in the region. Although the docks and the dance halls are gone, the view is still there.

Just about 2 miles away is the main shopping district of Burien where you can find antiques, cafes, brewpubs and theater.

Oh and look - I just happen to have a listing in Three Tree Point!

What's YOUR favorite neighborhood?

The Dreaded Kitchen Remodel - Cabinets

The Dreaded Kitchen Remodel - Cabinets

Attention sellers: kitchen cabinets are one of the most visible aspects of your kitchen.

If yours are in good shape, take a look at the hardware as new hardware can greatly enhance the appeal of your existing cabinets. I suggest checking the RE Store in Ballard for great deals on hardware and fixtures - but if your existing cabinets are warped, sagging or made from medium density fiberboard it will be worthwhile to replace them.  If they're in good shape, you may check into refacing.  I've recently checked into refacing my own kitchen cabinets - you may be surprised as to cost vs. resale value of refacing rather than replacing.  Plus...by reusing as much as we can, we're promoting sustainable living practices too!

Do you have a good remodeling story? Do tell!

Google Me, Tweet Me, Like Me, Friend Me

Google Me, Tweet Me, Like Me, Friend Me

I have a very close relationship with my computer, and the last few months we have been brought even closer together with the help of Facebook.

Between my Facebooking, Twittering and LinkedIn, I stay connected to past clients while being available for new ones. Folks who are relocating to the area tend to do quite a bit of research online beforehand and I want to be represented! And not only that, but I am always up for learning new technical skills as they are needed.

In this age of personal online interfacing, I'm afraid that agents who are technophobes are going to have a hard time.

Are you knee-deep into networking? Which is your social media preference?

Foreclosure: The Other "F" Word

Foreclosure: The Other "F" Word

Options to avoid foreclosure will vary greatly with loan types, the trick here is to not ignore your situation and contact your lender before you miss any payments.

You could qualify for forbearance, loan reinstatement or loan modification - so again, do not be afraid to be proactive if this is an issue for you.

Even the super-rich have their money management problems - see what happened to winemaker/socialite Patricia Kluge.
